Student-Athlete Academic Eligibility Policy

Updated for the 2023-24 Academic Year, all students must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher in order to be considered in Good Academic Standing with the Institution and therefore be eligible to compete in intercollegiate athletics. Traditional first-year students will receive a 1-semester grace period  in their first academic semester that would allow them to compete in intercollegiate athletics with a cumulative GPA below 2.0.   IE, spring sport first-year student-athletes CAN be below a 2.0 cumulative GPA during their first fall academic semester and still compete in the spring. HOWEVER, they must then get their cumulative GPA back above 2.0 to compete in any future semesters.

  • If you fall below a cumulative GPA of 2.0 following your second academic semester, you will be able to remain part of the team, which includes attending practices, meetings and team functions. However, you will not be permitted to participate in any contests (games or scrimmages) OR travel with your team to away from home contests (neutral site games included) until your cumulative GPA rises above 2.0.
