Tiger Swimming & Diving Teams Open 2024-25 Season At Kenyon Relays
GAMBIER, OH - The Wittenberg Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams began the 2024-25 season at the Kenyon Relays where the Tigers recorded solid performances across the board in nine different events. Both squads posted fifth-place team finishes.
The women's 200 medley relay kicked off the afternoon. The team of Elizabeth Josellis (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw Community), Annie Gammon (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Country Day), Addison Payne (Sidney, OH/Sidney), and Rebekah Lebold (Mount Vernon, OH/Mount Vernon) finished 16th with a time of 2:07.72. Fellow Tigers Krenna Rahr (Monongahlea, PA/Ringgold), Gabriella Tisi (Aldephi, OH/Zane Trace), Jenna Hallett (Delta, OH/Delta), and Allison Browning (Hillsboro, OH/Hillsboro) placed 18th with a time of 2:14.83.
In the men's 200 medley relay, the Wittenberg team of Owen Gabel (New Bremen, OH/New Bremen), Ethan Towle (Centerville, OH/Centerville), Aidan Dannefelser (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier), and Mason Steen (Leroy, OH/Riverside) recorded a 17th-place finish with a time of 1:50.45.
The women's 200 back relay had the team of Lilly Cook (Rensselaer, IN/Rensselaer Central), Josellis, Sophie Paskiet (Toledo, OH/St. Ursula), and Shania Stone (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) place finish 10th with a time of 2:00.29. Fellow Tigers Browning Tisi, Rahr, and Lebold came in 16th with a mark of 2:17.78.
In the men's 200 back relay, Gabel, Dannefelser, Towle, and Nathan Rabun (Marion, OH/Wynford) took home a ninth-place finish tallying a time of 1:56.96.
The women's 200 yard breast stroke relay saw Wittenberg earn a sixth-place finish, as Stone, Josellis, Gammon and Paskiet recorded a time of 2:17.28.
Wittenberg's men finished 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke relay, with the team of Steen, Ronald Wynn (Columbus, OH/New Albany), Towle, and Dannefelser posting a time of 2:05.75.
Two relays represented the Wittenberg women in the 500 crescendo relay, with Stone, Cook, Teagan O'Connor (Ft. Wayne, IN/Carroll) and Gammon placing 11th and Rahr, Hawlett, Browning and Payne placing 15th.
The men's crescendo relay saw Orry Farrington (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne), Gable, Rabun and Steen bring in a 17th place finish.
In the 200 fly relay, the women's side saw O'Connor, Hallett, Payne and Cook finish 11th with a time of 2:01.31, and the men place 12th with the team of Rabun, Dannenfelser, Wynn and Farrington tally a time of 1:50.01.
The 400 IM relay had the women place 12th, as Lebold, Hallett, Gammon and O'Conor recorded a time of 4:48.61 and the men finished 13th, with Wynn, Dannenfelser, Gable and Steen earning a time of 4:15.44.
The Wittenberg women's team took home 18th and 19th place finishes in the 200 free relay and 12th and 14th place finishes on the men's side.
In the final swimming event of the afternoon, the mixed 200 medley relay, the team of Gable, Paskiet, Payne and Rabun finished fifth, while Josellis, Gammon, Towle and Andrew Tacket earned a sixth-place finish.
Both squads return to action next Saturday, October 26th as they host Hiram in a dual meet. The meet is slated to start at 11am in the Wittenberg Natatorium.
