SPRINGFIELD, OH - The Wittenberg Tigers continued to perform extremely well against some of the best teams in the Great Lakes Region, this time securing a 1-1 draw with visiting Case Western Reserve University.

Case Western, ranked 13th in the latest NCAA Division III Coaches Poll, remained undefeated on the season with a 6-0-3 record. Coming off a 1-1 tie at Otterbein on Wednesday, Wittenberg's record is now 2-3-2 while playing an extremely challenging non-conference schedule.

After the two teams played a very even opening 25 minutes, freshman Caroline Stupp (Waynesville, OH / Waynesville) broke the ice with a goal in the 25th minute. It was her first collegiate score.

A few moments later, CWRU nearly equalized when a shot hit the crossbar. Seven minutes into the second half, the visitors found an equalizer. The Spartans had several excellent scoring chances in the game's closing moments as well, but Wittenberg goalkeeper Lily Winkle (Cynthiana, KY / Harrison County) was up to the task each time, parrying away a shot that was ticketed for the top corner and then coming out on a Case Western attacking player to smother anoth shot attempt.

Case Western had the advantage in shots at 12-7 and shots on goal at 7-6 in the game. The two teams split eight corner kicks evenly at four apiece.

Stupp, Chamberlain Browning (Troy, OH / Troy), and Sarah Deaton (Monroe, OH / Monroe) all finished with two shots apiece to lead Wittenberg. Brooke Mullis (Lawrenceburg, IN / Taylor) had Wittenberg's other effort on goal.

Next up for the Tigers is their non-conference finale at Asbury at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 2.
