Tiger Women’s Soccer Draws 0-0 At Ohio Wesleyan
DELAWARE, OH – Securing a tie against a tough North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival like Ohio Wesleyan, especially on the Battling Bishops' home field, isn't as good as a win for Wittenberg's Women's Soccer. But it sure beats a loss.
The Tigers opened a busy three-games-in-seven-days stretch with a road trip to the Jay Martin Soccer Complex, and the end result wound up being the same as four of the previous six contests - a tie. Neither team could find the back of the net as the match ended in a 0-0 draw, giving the Tigers five ties on the season and records of 3-4-5 overall and 1-1-2 in the NCAC. Ohio Wesleyan, currently second in the NCAC, goes to 9-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 NCAC, one point behind DePauw at 2-0-2 in the conference.
The stats in this one were close as well as each team had nine fouls, and no red or yellow cards. Ohio Wesleyan led decisively in shots with 24, including seven on goal, while Wittenberg registered 12 overall and five on goal. The Battling Bishops also led in corners by a 9-2 margin.
Brooke Mullis (Lawrenceburg, IN/Taylor) led the Tigers in shots with four overall and two on goal. Chamberlain Browning (Troy, OH/Troy) added three more shots, one on goal. Wittenberg goalkeeper Lily Winkle (Cynthiana, KY / Harrison County) had seven saves on the night as she recorded her second clean sheet of the 2024 campaign.
Leaders for Ohio Wesleyan were Tiffany Trinh with five shots, two on goal, and Ava Bruns added four shots, two on goal. Goalkeeper Natalie Ryan had five saves on the night.
Ohio Wesleyan, picked to finish second behind the defending regular-season champion Tigers, lead the overall series against Wittenberg at 20-14-4. The Battling Bishops defeated Witt last year, 1-0.
Next up, the Tigers will travel to DePauw for another conference match at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22.
