Tiger Men's Golf Plays Historic Venue; Finishes 15th

PINEHURST, NC - Wittenberg Men's Golf took a couple of spins around the historic links of Forest Creek Golf Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina, en route to a 15th-place finish in the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Hampden-Sydney College.

The two rounds were played on the par-72, 6,701-yard Forest Creek Golf Club North Course, and the tournament included 18 teams ranked in the top 50 nationally, including four of the top five. Second-ranked Methodist ran away with the team title by shooting a blistering two-round total of 9-under-par, followed by Babson at 2-over-par, Sewanee at 3-over-par, Emory at 7-over-par, and the host team, Hampden-Sydney, rounded out the top five at 8-over-par.

Wittenberg came into the event ranked 39th. After shooting 17-over-par in the opening round, the Tigers moved up two spots from 17th to 15th with a 13-over-par round on Day 2.

Individually, Wittenberg was led by freshman Mitch Bolte (Newark, OH / Newark), who finished 21st overall. He had an outstanding two days, finishing 2-over-par overall after shooting rounds of 74 and 72.

Josh Wright (Wadsworth, OH / Akron Hoban) and Ryan Miller (Dublin, OH / Jerome) were next for the Tigers with matching two-day totals of 12-over-par to finish in a tie for 69th. Rounding things out for Wittenberg were Mark Sulek (Delaware, OH / Hayes) in 81st with a 14-over-par and Jake Yarbrough (Dublin, OH / Jerome) in 88th with a 17-over-par.
