
Tiffin, OH and Boston, MA-The Wittenberg track and field team sent athletes to both the Robinson Family Open at Tiffin University and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University. At Tiffin, another Wittenberg Track and Field record was broken, while some of the program's top athletes had good showings in Boston as well.
At Tiffin, the women started off their top 10 finished with a seventh place finish in the 200 meters from Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, OH / Pickerington Central), who finished in 27.17 seconds. Then, in the 400 meters, Lexie Greer (Venedocia, OH / Spencerville) took sixth with a time of 1:02.70 and Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, OH / Springfield) placed tenth in 1:06.60. In the 800 meters, two Tiger runners finished thrid and fourth, Abbey Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut) in 2:33.05 and Aly Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester, OH / Canal Winchester) in 2:33.89. In the mile, Wittenberg had five runners finish within the top 10. Taking second was Alex Couch (Howard, OH / Mount Vernon) with a time of 5:26.07, Mackenzie Kelley (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) took fifth in 5:37.25. Following up in sixth was Abigail Davison (Reynoldsburg, OH / Reynoldsburg) in 5:47.41, Svetlana Daniels (London, OH / Madison Plains) finsihed eighth in 5:55.49 and in ninth was Rachel Lahrmer (Sagamore Hills, OH / Nordonia) in 6:05.33. In the 60 meter hurdles, Izzy Henderson (East Liberty, OH / Benjamin Logan) finished fifth with a time of 9.27 seconds. In the 4 x 400 meter relay, the Wittenberg team of Danne, De'Armond, Greer and Jenna Delp (Canton, OH / GlenOak) took first in 4:17.71. Moving on to the field events, Julissa Williams (Lorain, OH / Lorain) took third in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters, while Maddie Doerman (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) finished ninth with a 1.40 meter mark. In pole vault, Story Laing (Granville, OH / Granville) finished fifth at 3.35 meters and Greer finished ninth at 3.05 meters. In the long jump, Delp took eighth with 4.86 meters, G'Niyah Brown (Dayton, OH / Wayne) finished ninth with 4.84 meters and Michaela Stroder (Springfield, OH / Springfield) rounded out the top 10 at 4.80 meters. Taylor Weiss (Powell, OH / Olentangy Liberty) finished fourth in the triple jump at 10.40 meters and Reese Neumeyer (Whitehouse, OH / Anthony Wayne) took seventh at 10.06 meters. Finishing out the field events was shot put, where Emma Henry (Springfield, OH / Greenon) took seventh with a mark of 10.07 meters.
For the men at Tiffin, in the 400 meters, Owen Bier (Elyria, OH / Midview) took sixth in 53.60 while Andrew Owen (Springfield, OH / Springfield) finished seventh in 53.81. Then, in the 800 meters, Mason Duncan (Cardington, OH / Highland) finished fourth in 2:03.32. Next was the mile, where Kamren Graham (Shaker Heights, OH / Shaker Heights) took tenth with a time of 4:42.36. In the 60 meter hurdles, Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH / Trenton Edgewood) finished in second place in 8.52 seconds. Then, in the field events, Justin Norris (Middletown, OH / Middletown Christian) SET A NEW SCHOOL RECORD in the high jump, finishing in second witha jump of 2.04 meters. Gage Dyke (Frankfort, OH / Zane Trace) took sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.25 meters. Another sixth place finish came from Neal Godfrey (Columbus, OH / St. Francis DeSales) in the long jump with a 6.12 meter jump. In shot put, Max Martindale (Mason, OH / Lakota West) took ninth with a mark of 13.61 meters.
In Boston at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls) and Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield) finished 11th and 12th in the 400 meter dash invite with times of 48.54 and 48.58. Freshman Brandon Anderson (Dexter, MI / Dexter) finished 160 out of over 230 runners in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.59. Conor Kolka (Dexter, MI / Dexter) finished 184 out of over 240 runners in the 300 meter run with a time of 8:22.50. In the 4 x 400 meter relay, the Wittenberg team of Elliott, Anderson, Kittle and Dashawn Seye (Centerville, OH / Centerville) took 21st of 37 with a time of 3:20.80. In the women's 200 meter dash invite, Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH / Alliance) finished 31st with a time of 25.83. In the 400 meter dash invite, Frazier finished 29th in 57.47 seconds.
The next track and field meet for Wittenberg will be Saturday, February 22nd at home for the Wittenberg Invite in The Steemer.
