Tigers Take Down Lions in Run Rule Fashion for 7th Win

Batavia, OH - The Tigers returned to Ohio from their Spring Break trip in Myrtle Beach and kept their winning ways alive. The Tigers took on the Mount St. Joseph Lions and won 14-1 in a dominant game throughout. The game ended after seven innings due to run rules.

Starting on the mound for the Tigers was junior Tommy Chilicki (Lewis Center, OH/Olentangy), who went two innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Coming on in relief throughout the game was senior Kyle Mahon (Dayton, OH/Centerville), senior Owen Treece (Van Wert, OH/Van Wert), freshman Chris Dawson (Loveland, OH/Milford), and sophomore Ben Sells (Urbana, OH/Graham). Treece was credited with the win, making him 1-0 on the season. Combined, Tiger pitching allowed one run on seven hits with six strikeouts.

Tiger bats have been alive all year, and this game was no different. Five different Tiger batters were credited with an RBI in the game, with three of those five registering multiple hits in the game. Sophomore Thatcher Dietz (Westerville, OH/Westerville South) went 3-4 in the game, with one double and RBI hits in both the second and third innings. Graduate student Luke Thomas (Tallmadge, OH/Tallmadge) went 2-for-5 in the game, including a double, and he drove in runs in the second and third innings as well.

With the win, the Tigers moved to 7-3 on the season. On the other side, the Lions dropped to 9-3. The Tigers return to action on Friday, March 14, to take on (RV) Case Western Reserve at 11:00 a.m. in a game hosted by Marietta College.
