
SPRINGFIELD, OH – Wittenberg's Women's Lacrosse held strong through three quarters but couldn't hold off Marietta's strong offensive attack in the final frame, falling 12-8 on a windy, rainy night at Edwards-Maurer Field on Wednesday, March 5.
The Tigers scored four in the first, three in the second, and one in the third to grasp an 8-6 lead with three in the books, however, Marietta struck for six goals in the final frame to tally the victory. Mallory Wiles scored three of the six for the Pioneers and had five total on the night.
Sophia Meek (Lewis Center, OH / Olentangy Orange) led the Tigers in goals with three, scoring in each of the first three quarters. She also had five shots, four on goal, two ground balls, and one caused turnover.
Wittenberg drops to 1-3 on the season while Marietta improves to 3-2 overall.

- Alyssa Burnside (Galloway, OH / Hilliard Bradley) had two goals, two shots, two on goal, and three ground balls.
- Hannah Peterson (Cedarville, OH / Cedarville), Aubrey Stager (Saline, MI / Saline) and Jarya Hassell (Bellbrook, OH / Bellbrook) each scored a goal as well. Stager took seven shots, three on goal, added four ground balls, and a team-high seven draw controls. Peterson had seven shots, four on goal, and led the team in ground balls with seven. She also had one draw control, and one caused turnover. Hassell had two shots, two on goal, and two ground balls.
- Goalkeeper Sidney Sheridan (Columbus, OH / Bishop Hartley) tallied nine saves and had 21 shots faced.
