GAMBIER, OH. – Wittenberg's Women's Volleyball team continued its dominance over Kenyon College enroute to its second-straight road win, this time at Tomsich Arena.
It was the second North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match for both teams. The Tigers won in three straight sets in scores of 25-18, 25-12, and 25-10 putting their overall record against the Owls at 49-3 to improve to 7-6 on the season and 1-1 in the NCAC. Kenyon drops to 7-13 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Kenyon hasn't beaten Wittenberg since 1990.
Kenyon was never really a threat in set one. After three ties in the beginning of set two, the Tigers went on a seven-point run to make it 13-6 and Kenyon couldn't muster enough offense to get back into the game. In set three, Witt jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back.
Controlling the match from start to finish, Wittenberg tallied 41 kills to the Owls' 16. The Tigers dominated the stats overall in service aces 6-3, in assists 35-14, in digs 51-36, and in total attacks 101-89. Kenyon did record five blocks to Wittenberg's three.
Piper Ricketts (Morrow, OH / Little Miami) was a force on the day leading the Tigers in kills with 18 and she also recorded to two service aces, four digs, and 20 points. Ricketts' 18 kills are one short of the record for a three-set match in the 25-point rally era.
Alana Bartulovic (Cleveland, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) added six kills and three blocks. Celia Orr (Lexington, KY / Frederick Douglass) led the team in assists with 29 and added seven digs. Ally White (Harrison, OH / Harrison) registered a team high 16 digs and added two assists. Bryn Wilhelmus (Louisville, KY / Mercy Academy) added two service aces and eight digs.
