
SPRINGFIELD, OH - Wittenberg's men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the 2024-25 season with a strong showing in the Tiger Opener in The Steemer. The meet featured a variety of teams from across the state of Ohio, representing all three NCAA divisions.
For Wittenberg's men, one of the highlights came from a newcomer as freshman Kory Davis (Brookville, OH/Brookville), who finished second in the 60-meter hurdles in a school-record time of 8.29. The other Tiger to take runner-up honors in the meet was another first-year student as Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL/Groveport) finished second in the 300 meters.
The lone first-place finisher for the Tiger men was senior Justin Norris (Middletown, OH/Middletown Christian). He topped the 13-athlete field in the high jump as the only competitor to clear the height of 1.95 meters (6 feet, 4.75 inches).
Other Tiger men to finish in the top five were Neal Godfrey (Columbus, OH/St. Francis DeSales), third in the long jump; Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls), third in the 400 meters; Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH/Springfield), fourth in the 400 meters; Gage Dyke (Frankfort, OH/Zane Trace), fifth in the pole vault; Bryce Ray (Sun City, FL/Sumner), fifth in the long jump; Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH/Trenton Edgewood), fifth in the 60-meter hurdles; and Mataio Robinson (Dayton, OH/Meadowdale), fifth in the 300 meters.
For Wittenberg's women, Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH/Alliance) picked up where she left off a year ago, finishing first in the 400 meters and third in the 200 meters. Other highlights came from a trio of runner-up finishes turned by Aly Kolonchuk (Canal Winchester, OH/Canal Winchester) in the 1-mile run, Victoria Pipinich (Fort Worth, TX/All Saints Episcopal) in the 800 meters, and Julissa Williams (Lorain, OH/Lorain) in the triple jump. Williams also placed fourth in the high jump.
Other Tiger women to finish in the top five were Tiffany Hix (Prospect, OH/Elgin), third in the pole vault; Taylor Weiss (Powell, OH/Olentangy Liberty), third in the high jump and fourth in the triple jump; Jenna Delp (Canton, OH/GlenOak), fourth in the long jump; Macy DeHart (Springfield, OH/Kenton Ridge), fifth in the weight throw; Lexie Greer (Venedocia, OH/Spencerville), fifth in the pole vault; and Reese Neumeyer (Whitehouse, OH/Anthony Wayne), fifth in the triple jump and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles.
