Two Track & Field School Records Fall At Emory Spring Break Classic

ATLANTA, GA - Wittenberg Men's and Women's Track & Field kicked off the outdoor portion of the 2024-25 season with a solid showing at the Emory University Spring Break Classic, an event that attracted some top teams from NCAA Division III and scholarship programs from NCAA Division II and NAIA. There were no team scores in the event.

Among a host of outstanding performances, Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield) and Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls) provided a pair of highlights, starting in the 400 meters as the senior and freshman posted a 1-2 finish, in the process breaking a school record. Elliott hit the finish line in a time of 47.41 and Kittle was right behind in a time of 47.54.

Elliott and Kittle were half of the foursome of that authored a school-record time of 41.24 in the 4x100-meter relay. Joining them on the second-place finishing relay were Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL / Groveport) and Caiden Allen (Ontario, OH / Plymouth). Elliott and Kittle wrapped up their stellar weekend with a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:18.49. They were joined by Dashawn Seye (Centerville, OH /  Centerville), and Bryson Hall (Franklin, OH / Franklin).

Other top finishes for the Tiger men were recorded by:

  • Simmons made semifinals of the 100 meters in a conference-best time of 10.78 and he placed seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 21.72.
  • Adam Arndt (Connersville, IN / Connersville) finished third in the 1500 meters in a time of 4:07.52.
  • Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH / Trenton Edgewood) took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.89.
  • Justin Norris (Middletown, OH / Middletown Christian) placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters.
  • Bryce Ray (Sun City, FL / Sumner) placed third in the long jump with a mark of 7.01 meters.
  • Troy Crosby (Clayton, OH / Northmont) finished seventh in the discus with a mark of 43.37 meters.
  • Max Green (Centerville, OH / Centerville) placed eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.20 meters.

For Wittenberg's women, the individual highlight was supplied by Izzy Henderson (East Liberty, OH/Benjamin Logan), who turned in top-eight finishes in three different events. Henderson finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.15, sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:05.81, and fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.62 meters.

Other top finishes for the Tiger women were recorded by:

  • Abbey Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut) finished 13th in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 58.93.
  • Julissa Williams (Lorain, OH / Lorain) finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.55 meters.
  • Story Laing (Granville, OH / Granville) finished fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.30 meters.
  • Macy DeHart (Springfield, OH / Kenton Ridge) won the javelin with a mark of 25.10 meters.
