Winchester, VA- The Wittenberg Tigers' gigantic offensive day continued in the second game of Day 1 of the Shenandoah Invitational as the Tigers took on host Hornets and posted a second straight run-rule victory. This time, it was a 10-run first inning that sent the Tigers on their way toward an 11-1, seven-inning decision.

Junior Andrew Rust (Dublin, OH/Dublin Coffman) took the mound for the Tigers against the Hornets and he pitched well, racking up four innings of work while allowing one hit and walking two while striking out six. Both sophomore Tommy Anthony (Toronto, ON/Humberside Collegiate Institute) and senior Charlie Schafer (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) came on in relief and they shut down the Hornets, allowing just three hits over the next four innings.

Junior Tommy Chilicki (Lewis Center, OH/Olentangy) led the team with three hits in the game, which included a triple and two singles. Seven different players were awarded RBIs during the game. Graduate student Luke Thomas (Tallmadge, OH/Tallmadge), graduate student Parker Gryskevich (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg), and senior Rocco Royer (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) all plated two runs to propel the offense.

The Tigers finish their trip to Virginia tomorrow at noon against SUNY Cortland. With the win, Wittenberg improved to 4-1 on the season, while the Hornets fall to 7-3.
