Wilmington, OH - The Wittenberg men's cross country team continued its string of solid season performances as the Tigers placed third on a beautiful fall Friday evening at the Jenna Strong Classic, hosted by Wilmington College. The top-three team finish was particularly impressive considering the fact that the Tigers were without the services of senior team leader Conor Kolka (Dexter, MI/Dexter).
In his stead, freshman Brandon Anderson (Dexter, MI/Dexter) led the way for Wittenberg as he earned a team-best sixth-place finish with a time of 25:24.2. Sophomore Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH/Northmont) and junior Lucas Eisele (Dayton, OH/West Carrollton) both also earned top-25 finishes, with Rieben placing 11th with a time of 25:58.4, and Eisele tallying a 17th place finish with a time 26:10.3.
Junior Zayden Taylor (Springfield, OH/Kenton Ridge) earned a 61st-place finish, recording a time of 27:17.4, freshman Kamren Graham (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) placed 72nd with a time of 27:37.5, while Adam Arndt (Connersville, IN/Connersville) and Taylor Insyxiengmay (Cincinnati, OH/Little Miami) capped off the race for the Tigers with respective 117th and 213th place finishes.
Wittenberg's season continues on Sunday, November 3, as the Tigers seek their first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) crown since 1996, when they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, to compete at the NCAC Championships.
