LEXINGTON, KY - While the stats on the scoresheet indicate an evenly played game, Wittenberg women's soccer was unable to keep pace with host Transylvania in a 3-1 loss.

The loss was the Tigers' second of the young season, coming on the heels of a 4-2 defeat against NCAA Division II program, Cedarville, at Edwards-Maurer Field on Friday, August 30.

The Pioneers put the pressure on early, cashing in on their first scoring opportunity in the 10th minute. Transylvania added a goal in the 70th minute before the Tigers rallied behind freshman Sarah Deaton (Monroe, OH / Monroe), who scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from Grace Koperna (Macedonia, OH / Nordonia). However, Transylvania put the game on ice in the 87th minute.

Wittenberg recorded six shots in the game, compared to five for the Pioneers. The Tigers also held a 3-1 edge in corner kick opportunities. However, Transylvania led 3-1 in the most important category of all - goalkeeper saves.

Deaton led Wittenberg with two shots in the game, while Ava Otey (Columbus, OH / Olentangy Orange), Alex Hill (Powell, OH / Olentangy Liberty), Koperna, and Emma Rhodis (Hamilton, OH / Badin) added one shot apiece.
