
WOOSTER, OH - The Wittenberg Men's and Women's Track and Field teams got back to competition at the Wooster Invitational and turned in an outstanding all-around performance en route to matching team titles. The Tiger men piled up 162.5 points to take first place, 19 points ahead of second-place Ohio Wesleyan, while the Tiger women finished with 155 points, compared to second-place Ohio Wesleyan with 127.
Individually, Wittenberg's men picked up six first-place finishes:
- Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL / Groveport) - 60 meters
- Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield) - 200 meters
- Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH / Northmont) - 1 mile
- Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH / Trenton Edgewood) - 60-meter hurdles
- Justin Norris (Middletown, OH / Middletown Christian) - high jump
- Max Martindale (Mason, OH / Lakota West) - shot put
In addition, Wittenberg took first place in two men's relay events. In the 4x400-meter relay, the quartet of Simmons, Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls), Mason Duncan (Cardington, OH / Highland), and Andrew Owen (Springfield, OH / Springfield) showed the way, and in the distance medley relay, the four Tigers reaching the finish line first were Zayden Taylor (Springfield, OH / Kenton Ridge), Bryson Hall (Franklin, OH / Franklin), Duncan, and Adam Arndt (Connersville, IN / Connersville).
Other top-three finishes for the Tiger men were turned in by:
- Caiden Allen (Ontario, OH / Plymouth) - third in the 60 meters
- Kittle - second in the 200 meters
- Gage Dyke (Frankfort, OH / Zane Trace) - second in the pole vault
- Neal Godfrey (Columbus, OH / St. Francis DeSales) - third in the long jump
On the women's side, top-three individual finishes came from nine different competitors in seven different events:
- Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH / Alliance) - second in the 60 meters
- Izzy Henderson (East Liberty, OH / Benjamin Logan) - first in the 200 meters; third in the 60-meter hurdles; second in the high jump
- Abbey Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut) - third in the 400 meters
- Megan Keys (Dublin, OH / Jerome) - second in the 3000 meters
- Taylor Weiss (Powell, OH / Olentangy Liberty) - first in the high jump
- Cayla Eaton (North Lewisburg, OH / Triad) - third in the high jump
- Story Laing (Granville, OH / Granville) - second in the pole vault
- Reese Neumeyer (Whitehouse, OH / Anthony Wayne) - first in the triple jump
Wittenberg's women also scored big points in two relays. The 4x200-meter relay took second place with the quartet of Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, OH / Pickerington Central), Lindsey Magoteaux (Sidney, OH / Lehman Catholic), Jenna Delp (Canton, OH / GlenOak), and Morgan Hunter (Rockford, OH / Parkway), and the 4x100-meter relay finished first with the grouping of Victoria Pipinich (Fort Worth, TX / All Saints Episcopal), Danne, Delp, and Frazier.
