Tiger Track & Field Takes Second At Centre Invitational

DANVILLE, KY - Wittenberg Men's and Women's Track & Field picked up a pair of second-place finishes at the Centre Invitational to open up competition in the month of April. The Tiger men scored 138.5 points in the meet, behind only the host Colonels, who piled up 233 points to take the top spot. The Tiger women scored 159 points to also finish behind the host team, which finished with 286 points.

The key to Wittenberg's strong finishes in the nine-team meet was both depth and individual wins. For the men, Troy Crosby (Clayton, OH / Northmont) won the discus, Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls) led the way in the 200 meters, Riley Payne (Hamilton, OH / Trenton Edgewood) placed first in the 100-meter hurdles, and the Tigers' 4x100-meter relay of Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL / Groveport), Kittle, Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield), and Neal Godfrey (Columbus, OH / St. Francis DeSales) hit the finish line in the first. For the women, Mackenzie Kelley (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) topped the field in the 3000-meter steeplechase and Izzy Henderson (East Liberty, OH / Benjamin Logan) placed firth in the 100-meter hurdles.

For Wittenberg's men, other top finishers included:

  • Adam Arndt (Connersville, IN / Connersville), second in the 1500 meters;
  • Simmons, second in the 100 meters;
  • Kamren Graham (Shaker Heights, OH / Shaker Heights), fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase;
  • Mataio Robinson (Dayton, OH / Meadowdale) fourth in the 100-meter hurdles;
  • Elliott, fourth in the 200 meters;
  • Max Martindale (Mason, OH / Lakota West), second in the hammer throw and second in the shot put.

For Wittenberg's women, other top finishers included:

  • Lindsey Magoteaux (Sidney, OH / Lehman Catholic), fourth in the 100 meters;
  • Riley Colestock (London, OH / London), fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase;
  • Megan Keys (Dublin, OH / Jerome), third in the 1500 meters;
  • Emma Hawk (Marion, Ohio / River Valley), fifth in the 1500 meters;
  • Cayla Eaton (North Lewisburg, OH / Triad), fifth in the 100-meter hurdles;
  • Ziciah Gibson (Cambridge, OH / Cambridge), second in the javelin;
  • Julissa Williams (Lorain, OH / Lorain), second in the high jump;
  • Taylor Weiss (Powell, OH / Olentangy Liberty), third in the high jump and second in the triple jump;
  • Story Laing (Granville, OH / Granville), second in the pole vault;
  • Lexie Greer (Venedocia, OH / Spencerville), third in the pole vault;
  • Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, OH / Pickerington Central), Magoteaux, Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH / Alliance), and Henderson teamed up to place second in the 4x100-meter relay.
