
WESTERVILLE, OH – Wittenberg Women's Volleyball saw its three-match win streak snapped on the road against Otterbein on Wednesday, Nov. 6, in a non-conference loss at the Rike Center.
Wittenberg came out strong in the first set with a 25-20 win as they seeked to avenge a loss in the opening match of the season. However, the Tigers were defeated in the next three sets by scores of 25-12, 25-23, and 25-19. The loss puts the Tigers at 14-9 overall, including a 4-5 record away from home. Otterbein improves to 19-8 on the season.
Alana Bartulovic (Cleveland, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) led Witt in kills with 11, while Kaili Worcester (Powell, OH / Olentangy Liberty) and Clare O'Malley (Avon, OH / St. Joseph's Academy) tallied nine each. Mary Sulfridge (South Charleston, OH / Southeastern) led the team in assists with 36 on the night. Wittenberg also got a team-high 28 digs from Ally White (Harrison, OH / Harrison).
Otterbein got big numbers from Kennedy Hoffman in the kill department with 16, Emerson Baum added 12. Olivia Vitaz led the team in assists with 45 and Amanda Troyer had 18 digs.
Team totals for Wittenberg included 46 kills, 153 total attacks, 44 assists, three service aces, 64 digs, and eight blocks. Otterbein had 56 team kills, 156 total attacks, 55 assists, 11 service aces, 75 digs, and eight blocks.
Wittenberg is 32-8 vs. Otterbein since 1979. Before losing to the Cardinals, 3-1, in close games last season, the Tigers had won eight in a row.
Next up, Wittenberg will host Denison, Ohio Northern, and Heidelberg in a North Coast Athletic Conference/Ohio Athletic Conference crossover event at Pam Evans Smith Arena, part of the Health, Wellness & Athletics Complex, on Friday, Nov. 8. Denison and Wittenberg will take on Ohio Northern and Heidelberg in matches at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
