Wittenberg Men's Golf Opens 2024-25 Season With Win At Denison
GRANVILLE, OH - A fixture in the national rankings over the last 15 years and coming off another top-10 finish in the NCAA Division III Championships, Wittenberg Men's Golf picked up right where it left off to start the 2024-25 season as the Tigers claimed the top spot in Denison University's Ted Barclay Invitational.
The Tigers finished in a first-place tie with John Carroll atop the 11-team standings with a two-round total of 584. Wittenberg claimed the first-place trophy by virtue of tiebreaker criteria. DePauw finished third with a 586, followed by Otterbein with a 588 and Allegheny with a 593 to round out the top five.
Wittenberg was the first-round leader at 287, and on the second day of the competition the Tigers finished with a 13-over-par 297. John Carroll turned in the low round of the second day, a six-over-par score of 290.
Individually, the Tigers were led by Jake Yarbrough (Dublin, OH / Jerome), Caleb Domitrovich (McDonald, OH / McDonald), and Mikey Schutte (Cincinnati, OH / Elder), who were all part of a logjam in ninth place with a two-round total of 145. Mark Sulek (Delaware, OH / Hayes) and Ryan Miller (Dublin, OH / Jerome) both shot 148 to finish in a tie for 16th place, and Austin Georger (Appleton, WI / Appleton West) finished 22nd with a 150. Rounding things out for the Tigers was Josh Wright (Wadsworth, OH / Akron Hoban) in 33rd place with a 152.
