SPRINGFIELD, OH. – Wittenberg's Women's Volleyball team picked up its sixth-straight win in three-straight sets over visiting Oberlin in scores of 25-16, 25-23, and 25-14 in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Pam Evans Smith Arena, part of the Health, Wellness & Athletics Complex.

The Tigers have put together some great matches of late. Against the Yeowomen, the Tigers captured their 45th win in a row in a series that dates back to 1979. Wittenberg is now 49-3 all-time against Oberlin.

It was Senior Recognition Day as Witt celebrated the fine play and dedication of senior leaders Cam Colahan (Vermilion, OH / Vermilion) and Kendall Black (Defiance, OH / Defiance). Each were honored with flowers and escorted near center court to be recognized. Wittenberg also presented three Oberlin seniors with roses before the game.

Both senior starters turned in great performances on the day with Colahan recording 11 digs, one service ace and one kill and Black tallying six kills, three digs, one service ace, and one solo block.

Wittenberg ups its record to 11-6 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC. They also improve to 4-3 at home. With the loss Oberlin is 4-12 overall and 1-2 in the NCAC.

Team totals for Wittenberg included 37 kills, nine service aces, 37 assists, and 51 digs. Oberlin recorded 25 kills, five service aces, 24 assists, and 50 digs on the day.

The Tigers were led again by Piper Ricketts (Morrow, OH / Little Miami) in the kill department with 11. She also scored a team-high 13.5 points and added seven digs. Ally White (Harrison, OH / Harrison) led the team in digs with 13. She also added four assists and two service aces. Mary Sulfridge (South Charleston, OH / Southeastern) led the team in assists with 21. Celia Orr (Lexington, KY / Frederick Douglass) added 10 assists.

The Tigers will go on the road again to nationally ranked Marietta College on Friday, Oct. 18. The two teams were originally scheduled to play last month, but the match was postponed due to threats of violence that forced a closure of campus for one week.
