Wittenberg University women's soccer standouts Suzanne Medwid, class of 2009 from Columbus, Ohio, Jamie Mack, class of 2009 from Rochester, NY, Corey Shubitowski, class of 2009 from Columbus, Ohio, and Emily Murray, class of 2010 from Petoskey, Mich., and men's soccer standouts Jay Knox, class of 2009 from Hilliard, Ohio, and Michael Condon, class of 2010 from Powell, Ohio, have earned Academic All-Ohio honors from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association.

Adding to an already lengthy list of 2008 postseason honors, Wittenberg University women's soccer standouts Suzanne Medwid, class of 2009 from Columbus, Ohio, and Maggie Amorello, class of 2011 from Sutton, Mass., earned first- and second-team All-Ohio honors, respectively, from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association.

Two years after a devastating knee injury nearly ended her athletic career, Wittenberg women's soccer goalkeeper Jordan Bamberger, class of 2009 from Solon, Ohio, hoisted an NCAC Championship trophy. Her inspirational story was recently told in Training and Conditioning magazine.

Wittenberg University women's soccer standout Suzanne Medwid, class of 2009 from Columbus, Ohio, has put the finishing touches on her collegiate career with second-team All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) after she and Maggie Amorello, class of 2011 from Sutton, Mass., earned All-Great Lakes Region honors.

One of the most successful fall sports seasons in Wittenberg history was capped by a tremendous haul of postseason awards from the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Echoing the NCAA Division III model of student-athlete, the dedication and intensity it took for the team to win three straight North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) championships can also be seen in the classroom.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wittenberg senior midfielder Suzanne Medwid (Columbus, OH.Upper Arlington) and Kenyon senior defender Sam Schoeny (Cincinnati, OH/Indian Hill) have been named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year to highlight the 2008 All-North Coast Athletic Conference women's soccer selections after balloting by league coaches.

In search of another deep run into the NCAA Division III Tournament, the Wittenberg women's soccer team saw their season cut short with a 4-0 loss to the University of Chicago in a match played at Calvin College. The Maroons from the UAA turned in a pair of goals in each stanza to pull away and advance to the second round to take on the host Calvin Knights.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — After controlling the majority of action in the second half and the two overtimes, it would be a bizarre own goal that sent the Wittenberg Tigers to a 1-0 double overtime victory over the College of Wooster Scots in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament championship game.

After a pair of scoreless matches in the span of 10 days, the Wittenberg Tigers and Allegheny Gators ultimately determined a winner in a penalty-kick shootout, with the homestanding Tigers prevailing, 4-2, and advancing to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament title game. Sophomore Maureen Buckley (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) sealed the win with a shot into the upper right corner of the net in round four of the shootout.

After a long bus ride and overnight stay in western Pennsylvania, the Wittenberg Tigers were unable to close the deal in a 0-0 tie with host Allegheny.

Wittenberg University soccer standouts Jay Knox, class of 2009 from Gahanna, Ohio, and Jamie Mack, class of 2009 from Rochester, N.Y., have been recognized for the combination of their athletic and academic accomplishments with second- and third-team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division All-District IV honors, respectively.

After controlling the recent series between the two North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rivals, Wittenberg finally fell to Denison on the road, 2-1, in the Tigers' regular season finale. The Tigers had taken the last three meetings between the two sides, dating back to 2006, but it was the Big Red who captured a 2008 NCAC regular season crown with the win.
