Wittenberg Keeps Rolling With 3-0 Over Olivet

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Tiger women's soccer team struck twice early against their second MIAA opponent in as many days in a 3-0 victory over the Olivet Comets on Sunday afternoon. Junior forward Emily Murray (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey) opened up the scoring for the Tigers in the fifth minute, redirecting a shot by junior Rachael Radel (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview) past the Olivet keeper.

Wittenberg never looked back, as they continued to press the pace in the Olivet defensive end, earning multiple opportunities to double their lead. It would not take long, however, for the strike to come, as freshman Allie Keefer (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) netted a goal from the top of the box, on a ball that skipped off the goalie and into the net.

The pressure continued in waves as the Tigers saw most of their reserve players see significant minutes, while the chances continued to come. On the other side of half time, the Tigers put in a third in the 55th minute, with Radel getting her second and third points of the contest on a rebound just outside the six-yard box.

Goalkeeper Jordan Bamberger (Solon, Ohio/Solon) and the Tiger defense had another quiet outing, shutting the Comet attack down while only conceding one shot on the afternoon.

The Tigers move to 2-0 on the season with the win, before they head out to Greencastle, Ind. to take on the Depauw Tigers on Friday before facing Emory on Saturday. They return home Sept. 10, when regional foe Transylvania visits Edwards-Maurer Field for a 7 p.m. tilt.
