Second Half Surge Propels Tigers

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - On Homecoming weekend, the Tigers looked to impress a strong contigent of alumni in attendance, and the home side would not disappoint, putting in two goals in the second half to top Hiram College 2-0.

In spite of outshooting the Terriers 13-1 on the evening, the Tigers and Terriers would play to a scoreless first half. In the second half, the Tigers would break the scoreless draw, with senior Corey Shubitowski (Columbus, Ohio/Watterson) putting in a senior midfielder Suzanne Medwid (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) assist to give the Tigers the edge in the 51st minute.

The goal seemed to inspire the Tigers, as they amassed a dominant second half against the Terriers. To help solidify the Tiger advantage, sophomore Cailyn Roeble (Columbus, Ohio/DeSales) punched in the second in the 79th minute.

The Tiger back line had another strong evening, led by sophomore Kelly Foley (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) and senior Lauren Johnson (Huntsville, Ala./Hilliard Davidson). The shutout was the eighth of the season for Wittenberg.
