The Wittenberg Women’s Soccer team and head coach Katie Robinson welcomes seven new faces to the family for the 2017 season as part of this year’s recruiting class.
Bowling Green State University has named Matt Fannon their next women’s soccer coach, after compiling a record of 40-26-10 in four seasons as head coach at Wittenberg.
Michelle Brunswick, Leah Soutar and Megan Davis were recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association and the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association as members of the 2016 Women’s NCAA Division III All Ohio Team on Tuesday.
The Wittenberg women’s soccer team saw two members earn National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Great Lakes Region honors for the 2016 season. Senior Michelle Brunswick and junior Leah Soutar each earned All-Region honors.

The tables were turned on the Tigers on Saturday, as a hard-fought 90 minutes for both teams ended in heartbreak for the Tigers as Denison netted a goal in the 89th minute to win 1-0.
On Wednesday night, the Tigers were led by senior two-sport athlete Michelle Brunswick, who netted goals for the Tigers in the 21st and 72nd minute, allowing the Tigers to advance to the winner-take-all championship match on Saturday.
Wittenberg earned its first NCAC Women’s Soccer Title since 2013 as the Tigers dropped Wooster 1-0 behind a Megan Davis goal on Saturday. The Tigers earned the top seed in the 2016 NCAC Women’s Soccer Tournament with the win, after finishing 7-1-0 in league play this season.
On a play where Morgan Jones and Leah Soutar both worked the ball in the box to earn assists, Vaughn-Stanton caught a touch pass in front of the net off of a long cross to stun the Big red with a minute remaining in regulation.
The senior night festivities prefaced the match between the Hiram Terriers and Tigers, and poetically enough, it was a Tiger senior, Michelle Brunswick, that sealed the deal for the Tigers.
The Tigers scored two goals within 10 minutes of one-another on Saturday, and allowed one goal late, in a 2-1 victory. Wittenberg improves to 7-3-2 in 2016, with a 2-1 NCAC record.
In one of the most physical matches on Edwards-Maurer Field in 2016, Wittenberg outlasted the Battling Bishops, as Shannon Brueck notched the go-ahead goal in the second half in the 58th minute.
Wittenberg senior defender Morgan Jones led the Tigers to a pair of impressive wins last week defeating No. 18 Ohio Northern on the road before returning home to defeat Allegheny on Saturday.
Wittenberg’s two goals, a Jordyn Wright header followed by an unassisted Kate Hollern goal, would be enough to hold off the Panthers for the remaining 18 minutes of play. The Tigers improve their record to 3-1-2 with their victory.
Saturday’s late heroics belonged to none other than two-sport standout Michelle Brunswick, who sent a blast past Capital’s goalie in the 86th minute to give the Tigers the match.
It took two overtimes for the two teams to call it a night, and after the marathon game the score stood just as it had started earlier in the night, 0-0.
