WOOSTER, Ohio—Wittenberg earned its first NCAC Women's Soccer Title since 2013 as the Tigers dropped Wooster 1-0 behind a Megan Davis goal on Saturday. The Tigers earned the top seed in the 2016 NCAC Women's Soccer Tournament with the win, after finishing 7-1-0 in league play this season. The Tigers now play host to #4 Kenyon as the #1 seed in the tournament on November 2 at 7:00PM at Edwards-Maurer Field.
MATCH BREAKDOWN
- Wittenberg's lone goal was all that the needed, as Davis finished a throw in from Leah Soutar from close range to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead over the Fighting Scots, sealing the regular season conference title
- Davis' goal came in the 80th minute of action on Saturday, as the theatrics continued for the Tigers late in matches
KEY STATS.
- The Tigers square off against a Kenyon team that beat the Tigers in the first NCAC game of 2016 in Springfield.
- With the #1 seed in the tournament, if the Tigers were to run the table, they are able to do so without leaving Springfield and the benefits of home-field advantage.
