SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg women's soccer stepped away from NCAC play on Tuesday, as the Rochester Warriors of the NAIA ranks traveled to Springfield, Ohio for a match. The Tigers scored two goals within 10 minutes of one-another on Saturday, and allowed one goal late, in a 2-1 victory. Wittenberg improves to 7-3-2 in 2016, with a 2-1 NCAC record.
GAME NOTES
- Michelle Brunswick netted a goal in the 54th minute for the Tigers, as the two-sport athlete scored for the first time since returning from a broken nose.
- Leah Soutar made it happen for the Tigers, as the junior recorded her third assist of the season on Brunswick's goal.
- Kyrie Bumpus put the Tigers up 2-0 on an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute for the Tigers, her first goal since the 2014-15 season.
KEY STATS
- Kelly Corbin recorded her first win in net for the Tigers, as the freshman from Fallbrook, California recorded all 90 minutes in net, recording two saves.
- The Tigers outshot the Warriors 11-6 in the match, as Megan Davis paced the Tigers with four shots.
FROM THE COACH
- "We had another slow start, and are definitely disappointed to concede a goal so late in the match… We did have a period in the second half where we showed we can really turn it on when we need to, and when we did, we were unstoppable," said Coach Fannon.
