Women's Soccer Advances to NCAC Championship Game with 3-0 Win Over Kenyon

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—Wittenberg women's soccer entered Wednesday night's match against the Ladies of Kenyon as the #1 seed in the NCAC tournament, and emerged victorious 3-0. The Tigers will square-off against the Big Red of Denison on Saturday night in Springfield at 7:00PM for the NCAC crown, and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Wittenberg dethroned Denison out of first place earlier in the year in Granville, as the Tigers earned the #1 seed in the tournament. On Wednesday night, the Tigers were led by senior two-sport athlete Michelle Brunswick, who netted goals for the Tigers in the 21st and 72nd minute, allowing the Tigers to advance to the winner-take-all championship match on Saturday.

MATCH BREAKDOWN

  • Leah Soutar recorded her eighth and ninth assists of the season, as the Tigers assist leader recorded her first assist of the night on a Kenzie Mason goal in the 20th minute of action.  
  • Soutar was not done, picking up an assist on Brunswick's first goal in the 21st minute as the Tigers took a commanding 2-0 lead in the semi-final NCAC match.
  • Emily Thomas polished off the match for Wittenberg, recording an assist on Brunswick's final goal, giving the Tigers a 3-0 win.

  • Hannah Wilson picked up the shutout for the Tigers, recording one save in 78:14 minutes of play in net, as Kelly Corbin held off Kenyon in the final 18:46, recording four saves.
  • Brunswick led the Tigers with two shots on-goal, as both found the back of the net for Wittenberg.
