Brunswick's Blast Boosts Tigers Past Crusaders; 2-1

BEXLEY, Ohio-- As the non-conference schedule rolls on for many teams across the country, the Wittenberg Tigers women's soccer program continued to play this portion of their schedule with yet another OAC opponent. After having a bit of a letdown earlier in the week, the Tigers regrouped and managed to produce a 2-1 road victory over Capital University on Saturday. The two victories for Wittenberg thus far this season have been anything but bland, as both have come down to last minute goals. Saturday's late heroics belonged to none other than two-sport standout Michelle Brunswick, who sent a blast past Capital's goalie in the 86th minute to give the Tigers the lead for good. The road-win puts the Tigers at 2-1-1 in 2016, as the team now looks to take on Centre College in Springfield on September 14.

GAME BREAKDOWN

  • After Capital broke the seal early on in Saturday's match, junior college transfer Jordyn Wright knotted things up at 1-1 for the Tigers at 36:37 in the first half.
  • The next 50 minutes and seven seconds in the match went without a goal, before Brunswick took matters into her own hands as the senior defender broke the tie, ultimately giving the Tigers the match.

KEY STATS
