Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 to Case Western

CLEVELAND, Ohio—Wittenberg women's soccer has played anything but a "cupcake" non-conference schedule. The Tigers have played nationally ranked opponent week-in and week-out, and held their own against the best of the best. The road did not get any easier for the Tigers on Tuesday night, as Wittenberg traveled to Cleveland to square off against Case Western Reserve University. Case Western came out on top in the match 2-1, as the Tigers fell victim to a late second half goal. The loss sends the Tigers to 3-2-2 in 2016, as Case Western improves to 4-2-1.

 

GAME NOTES

  • Case Western opened up the scoring early in Cleveland, jumping out to a 1-0 lead four minutes in.  
  • Wittenberg knotted things up in the 24th minute, as Morgan Jones netted her first goal of the season.
  • Wittenberg kept the match close in the second half, but Case Western netted a goal in the 60th minute that would stand for the victory.

KEY STATS

  • The Tigers were out-shot in the match, 12-10 but led 7-6 in shots on goal.
