#25 Wittenberg Drop NCAC Opener to Kenyon; 1-0

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio—NCAC play opened up on Saturday at Wittenberg, as the Tigers women's soccer program took on the visiting Lords of Kenyon under the lights at Edwards-Maurer Field. Wittenberg's non-conference schedule was anything but easy, as the Tigers came in to conference play after being ranked #25 in the latest NCAA poll. Wittenberg battled tough on the night, but dropped the conference opener 1-0 to Kenyon. Despite getting off more shots than Kenyon, Wittenberg could not score the equalizer at home.

GAME NOTES

  • Wittenberg gave up an early goal on Saturday, as the rest of the match was a stalemate.
  • Missy Bernhardt produced three shots on Saturday, including two on goal, leading the Tigers.  
  • Hannah Wilson recorded two saves on the night, as the goalkeeper logged all 90 minutes in net on Saturday.
  • As a team, Wittenberg out-shot the Lords 10-6, but could not find the back of the net in the NCAC battle.
  • Wittenberg had their opportunities, as Kenyon's keeper was forced to make six saves, including a couple diving stops late in the match.

  • "Unfortunately, we did not play to the level we have grown accustomed to so far this season, but our women are strong and will learn from this tough week…I have no doubt about that," said Coach Fannon.
