Wittenberg Lands First Win Over Bethany

Springfield, OH- The Tigers competed against the Bison of Bethany. After going even in the first quarter, Wittenberg was able to pick it up and claim their first victory of the year with a _-_ score. With heavy winds affecting both teams, Wittenberg would have to settle in and play a running game.

Highlights- The Tigers were led by Grace Hehman with five goals on the day. The Tigers had to work from behind in the first quarter answering back to Bethany's three goals. Scoring for Wittenberg was Grace Hehman with an early hat trick and an assist from Mya Wolfe. With an even 3-3 score, the Red & White looked to advance in the second quarter, putting five goals on the board. Jessica Flick and Wolfe got in on the scoring action to start the second, before Hehman would score her fourth of the game assisted by Flick. The Tigers would end the second with two more goals with Anna Roller and Flick bringing the score to 8-4 heading into the half. Bethany would get on the board first in the third quarter before Wittenberg answered back with two goals, one from Mya Wolfe and another from Grace Hehman assisted by Cecilia Critchfield. Jessica Flick would tally one more for the Tigers in the third to head into the final period of play with a 11-7 lead. The Tigers lead dwindled in the fourth quarter but Wittenberg was able to hold onto the lead into the final seconds for a 11-10 win.

Splitting time in goal for the Tigers were Gabrielle Weckerly and Sidney Sheridan. The pair had a total of 4 saves, facing 26 shots on the day. Defensively, Wittenberg was led by Katie Wadds with 10 ground balls and caused seven Bethany turnovers.
