Hiram, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's lacrosse team breezed by the Hiram Terriers in their final game of the season, picking up the 22-1 win on the road. The Tiger offense was led by Josee Clayton and Emily Wadds who each tallied seven goals on the afternoon. Wittenberg took a 14-1 lead into the half, before going on to shutout the Terriers in the second half and scoring eight straight goals. Wittenberg closes out the season with an overall record of 8-8 and 4-4 in NCAC action.

Game Breakdown

Gretchen Burkey put the first Tiger goal on the board just over a minute into the action, as the Terriers would find their only goal of the game just a few minutes later. Wadds tallied her first of five first-half goals at the 26:21 mark, opening the floodgates for 12 more Wittenberg goals to find the back of the net before the end of the half. After Burkey added the third Tiger goal of the game off the Wadds assist, she would later find Wadds and Clayton for two assists before the end of the half. Gabby Zysik got her name in the scoring column before the end of the first half, scoring two goals for the Red and White. Clayton waited almost eight minutes into the action to post her first goal of the game, scoring on back-to-back free position attempts and taking five goals to her credit into the half. Rachel Bernard would get the scoring started in the second half. Bernard added her second assist of the game finding Wadds on the second Wittenberg goal of the half, taking the Tiger advantage out to 16-1.

Who Stood Out

Madeline Stock, Antavia Horne and Burkey each tallied four groundball pickups. Wadds caused four Hiram turnovers while taking 15 draw control wins for the Red and White.
