Tigers Drop NCAC Contest To Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio — The Wittenberg women's lacrosse team dropped a 12-4 decision versus the Kenyon Ladies Wednesday evening despite a four-goal rally in the first half. The Tigers fall to even at 2-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference competition and 8-4 overall.

Offensively, the two teams did not do a lot of mixing. Heading to halftime, Kenyon posted two more, and in the second half scored five unanswered.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jenny Schaafsma (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) matched the Kenyon netminder with 13 saves in a solid outing, but the Ladies outshot the Tigers 29-20. Schaafsma also led the team in ground balls with five.

Freshman midfielder Erin Guiliano (Loveland, Ohio/Kings) paced the Tigers with two goals and also picked up one groundball. Junior midfielder Jordan Beauchamp (Noblesville, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) also scored a goal, and sophomore attacker Krissy Battles (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) came off the bench to net one as well.

Sophomore attacker Jenn Close (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) counted three ground balls in the game along with two draw controls, while senior midfielderJoelle Ghanem (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) reversed the figures with two ground balls and three draw controls. Sophomore midfielder Katie Frey (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) also had three ground balls.
