LANCASTER, Ohio – The Wittenberg Tigers suffered just their third loss of the season as host Capital picked up a non-conference victory in walk-off fashion by a 5-4 score.

The win moved Capital, which was hosting the game at Beavers Field in Lancaster, to 12-7 on the season. Wittenberg, which had won six of its last seven games since returning from Florida, dropped to 12-3.

Trailing 4-1 in the eighth inning, Wittenberg finally got the bats working, loading the bases with two outs. Junior Tyler Hutchinson (Lebanon, Ohio/Cincinnati Moeller) cleared the bases with a triple down the right field line to tie the game.

Freshman Luke Black (St. Paris, Ohio/Graham) was saddled with the loss after coming on in relief to start the ninth inning. The fifth Tiger pitcher in the contest, Black recorded the first out before Capital ended the game with back-to-back hits.

The Tigers spread eight hits around the line-up, with only sophomore Mike Burgher (Birmingham, Mich./Seaholm) managing more than one base knock in the game. He finished 2-for-2 with one run scored after pinch-hitting during Wittenberg's three-run rally in the eighth inning.
