SPRINGFIELD, OH — Three Wittenberg student-athletes, Cal Bavineau (Dexter, MI/Dexter), Cameron Harrison (Eaton, OH/National Trail), and Dawson Scott (New Castle, IN/New Castle), were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Academic All-District Team for the 2024-25 season, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To earn CSC Academic All-District distinction, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in class standing with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.50 while meeting athletic participation requirements.
In basketball, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. Selected Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot (noted by asterisk on release from CSC). First-, Second-, and Third-Team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in April.
A junior guard majoring in finance with a 3.67 grade point average, Bavineau appeared in 17 games over his first two collegiate seasons before stepping into the rotation in 2024-25. He averaged 17.4 minutes per game while starting 15 games in the 2024-25 season, and Bavineau averaged 2.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.
A senior guard majoring in education with a 3.71 grade point average, Harrison ranked second on the team and ninth in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) in scoring at 13.0 points per game. The 2024-25 season was Harrison's second as a full-time starter for the Tigers, and he increased his production across every statistical category, most impressively as a three-point shooter. Harison led the NCAC by a wide margin with 77 three-pointers on the season, and he ranked second in the conference in three-point shooting percentage at .453 (77-of-170). His stellar play earned Harrison third-team All-NCAC honors following the season.
A junior forward majoring in business management with a 3.94 GPA, Scott made 24 starts in 25 games during the 2024-25 season after appearing in all 27 games a year ago off the bench. He averaged career-highs in scoring (5.60 points per game) and rebounding 5.44 rebounds per game).
The Tiger men's basketball team finished the 2024-25 season in a three-way tie for sixth place in the NCAC regular season standings with a 5-11 record. The Tigers posted an overall record of 9-16.
Wittenberg men's basketball has had three individuals each Academic All-America awards: Jim Appleby (first-team, 1967), Jay Ferguson (honorable mention, 1984), and Scott Schwartz (second-team, 1996). Click here for complete list
