Tigers Comeback To Overtake Owls For Second Consecutive NCAC Win

Springfield, OH – The Wittenberg Tiger Men's Basketball team overtakes the Owls with a thrilling, 75-72 victory. Wittenberg trailed the Owls, 37-27, at the break. The Tigers stormed back over the final 25 minutes of play, outscoring the Owls, 48-35. In the game of two halves, Wittenberg posted a 15-point scoring run midway through the second half, swinging the momentum back in the home side favor and taking the first lead of the night, 44-43. Wittenberg posted a 41 percent shooting clip on the night, knocking down 24 of 48 from the floor. The Tigers capitalized on 3 of 5 attempts down the floor during the overtime period, shooting 60 percent from the floor, including 7 of 12 from the foul line. Wittenberg finished with five Tigers posting double-digit points on the evening. Jeff Queen led the scoring effort, recording 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Levi Boettcher reeled-in a team-high eight rebounds, finishing with 15 points, adding two assists and two steals. Brice Hill and Trey Killens recorded 12 points apiece, each dishing out two assists. Killens tracked down five rebounds and added two steals for the Tiger effort. Jerry Saunders Jr. went for 11 points, pulling down four rebounds and came up with one steal and a blocked shot on the night.

Wittenberg will return to action on Saturday, January 14, hosting the College of Wooster for the 125th showdown against the Fighting Scots. The Wittenberg Men's Basketball program will celebrate the championship teams from 1963, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1993 and 2018 during their annual Champions Night event. Tipoff against the Scots is set for 7:00 PM.
