Hix ties school record in the triple jump as Women's Outdoor Track and Field competes at Otterbein, Ohio State, Kenyon

SPRINGFIELD — The Wittenberg women's outdoor track and field team had a busy weekend competing at the Otterbein Twilight Meet on Friday and the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State and Duane Gomez Invitational at Kenyon on Saturday. Sophomore Tiffany Hix (Prospect, Ohio/Elgin) highlighted the weekend by tying the school record in the triple jump at Kenyon.

The Basics

  • Venues: Otterbein Twilight Meet - Memorial Stadium - Westerville, Ohio; Jesse Owens Classic - Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium - Columbus, Ohio; Duane Gomez Invitational - Wilder Track and McBride Field - Gambier, Ohio
  • Competing in five events, Wittenberg placed seventh of 20 teams at the Otterbein Twilight Meet with 42 points.
  • Student-athletes from all NCAA divisions competed at the Jesse Owens Classic.
  • Wittenberg placed first of seven teams at the Duane Gomez Invitational with 158 points. Wooster was second with 132 points, and Mount Vernon Nazarene was third with 101 points.

Wittenberg's Top Performers - Otterbein Twilight Meet

  • The team of juniors Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, Ohio/Central), Meghan Frazier (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance), Lindsey Magoteaux (Sidney, Ohio/Lehman Catholic) and Haleigh Willison (Crooksville, Ohio/Crooksville) won the 4x100 relay in 49.15 seconds.
  • In the 100 meters, Frazier was third in 12.37 seconds in the finals after posting a prelim time of 12.35 seconds. Willison placed fifth in the finals in 12.64 seconds after running a time of 12.57 seconds in the prelims. Shakhan was ninth in the 100 prelims in 12.70 seconds, and Magoteaux tied for 16th in 13.00 seconds.
  • Two Tigers placed in the top three in the high jump. Junior Taylor Weiss (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) finished second with a mark of 1.70 meters, and junior Julissa Williams (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain) was third with a mark of 1.67 meters.
  • Junior Reese Neumeyer (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.24 meters and was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.68 seconds.

Wittenberg's Top Performers - Jesse Owens Classic

  • Frazier finished 15th of 38 in the 400 meters in 57.67 seconds. She was Wittenberg's lone female competitor at the meet.

Wittenberg's Top Performers - Duane Gomez Invitational

  • Hix won the triple jump with a mark of 11.34 meters, which tied the school record set by Becah Delp in 2016. Weiss finished second in the event with a mark of 10.18 meters.
  • Neumeyer won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.25 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.98. Freshman Haley Troy (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) was second in each of those events, finishing in 16.32 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 1:08.82 in the 400-meter hurdles.
  • Freshman Jenna Delp (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) won the long jump with a mark of 5.54 meters and was second in the 100 meters in 12.96 seconds.
  • Williams won the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters.
  • Sophomore Abbey Danne (Johnstown, Ohio/Big Walnut) won the 800 in 2:21.91.
  • The team of Danne, junior Victoria Pipinich (Fort Worth, Texas/All Saints Episcopal) and sophomore Delaney Tackett (Waverly, Ohio/Waverly) and Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) won the 4x400 relay in 4:07.33.
  • Sophomore Aidan Orth (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 11.61 meters and fourth in the discus with a mark of 37.10 meters.
  • Freshman Morgan Hunter (Rockford, Ohio/Parkway) was third in the 100 in 13.07 seconds and eighth in the 200 in 28.50 seconds.
  • Freshman Michaela Stroder (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) was third in the long jump with a mark of 4.69 meters, and freshman Hallie Haines (Hillsboro, Ohio/Fairfield) was third in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters.
  • In the 400, Tackett was fourth in 1:02.52, Pipinich was fifth in 1:02.87, and junior Kyngston Collins (Dayton, Ohio/Belmont) was seventh in 1:05.08.
  • De'Armond placed fourth in the 200 in 27.26 seconds.
  • Freshman DeYanna Champion (Dayton, Ohio/Early College Academy) was fifth in the 800 in 2:29.86, freshman Brooke DeHart (Springfield, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) was seventh in the javelin with a mark of 19.03 meters, and sophomore Emma Doerman (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) was eighth in the discus with a mark of 32.07 meters.
  • The team of Collins, Delp, Troy and freshman Meike Kwaaitaal (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam) placed fifth in the 4x400 relay in 4:29.53.
