SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg junior Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) and sophomore Aidan Orth (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) were each named North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week in women's outdoor track and field for the week of March 18-24.

Shakhan was named the NCAC Women's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week, and Orth was named the Field Athlete of the Week.

This marks the second NCAC Athlete of the Week honor for Shakhan, joining the one she earned as a sophomore during the 2022-23 season, and the first for Orth.

Shakhan earns the accolade on the heels of posting a pair of first-place finishes at the Transylvania Pioneer Invite on Saturday. She won the 100 meters in 12.50 seconds and was part of the first-place 4x100 relay team that finished in 49.47 seconds. Her time in the 100 currently ranks first in the NCAC.

The recognition for Orth comes after she scored 16 points for Wittenberg at the Pioneer Invite with second-place finishes in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 41.67 meters and the discus with a conference-leading mark of 37.49 meters.

The performances of Shakhan and Orth helped lead Wittenberg to the team title at the Pioneer Invite, as the Tigers placed first in the 14-team field with 167.5 points.

The Tigers return to action on Friday and Saturday competing at the WashU Distance Carnival and WashU Invite as well as the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Open.
