    OBERLIN, Ohio - The Wittenberg Tigers completed an unlikely rally Saturday, sweeping a pair of games from Oberlin College by scores of 7-0 and 12-1 to reach the four-team North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. Wittenberg, which has won five of its last six games over an eight-day span, finished in a three-way tie for third place in the NCAC regular season standings and will be the No. 4 seed in the tournament by virtue of tiebreaker criteria.

The Tigers, needing desperately to bounce back after losing a pair against Ohio Wesleyan to open North Coast Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, captured a pair of one-run victories against the Gators by 5-4 and 3-2 counts.

The Battling Bishops banged out an 8-2 victory in the opener and then stunned the Tigers with a three-run rally in the seventh inning to capture a 4-3 win in the nightcap.

They got their money's worth at home Wednesday in a doubleheader sweep of Mount St. Joseph, claiming victories by scores of 2-0 and 3-2. The most encouraging part about the victories is the way the Tigers gained them. Wittenberg is not an offensive juggernaut, meaning the Tigers need to pitch well and play good defense to give an opportunistic offense a chance to win games.
