    The Tigers' season came to end when they lost their first two games in the NCAC Tournament May 4 at Denison. Wittenberg lost 3-0 to regular season and tournament champion Denison, then was eliminated in a 3-1 loss to Ohio Wesleyan.

    Wittenberg has lost five straight games, occurring at the worst possible time going into the first NCAC postseason softball tournament at Denison this weekend. To make things worse, the fourth-seeded Tigers will meet the top-seeded Big Red in the first round of the double elimination tournament.
  • Wittenberg's NCAC Win Streak Ends in an Upset Against Hiram

    The Tigers won three of four games last week, but they were knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten in the NCAC on Sunday. Hiram scored a 6-2 win in Game 2 of a doubleheader to snap the Tigers' streak of seven straight conference wins this season and nine in a row dating back to last year.
  • Tigers Sweep Oberlin

    The Tigers remained unbeaten in the NCAC with a pair of wins over Oberlin by scores of 9-1 and 14-1. Game 1 was stopped after five innings and the nightcap after six innings due to the run rule.

    Wittenberg got defense of its North Coast Athletic Conference championship off to a good start with a doubleheader sweep at Allegheny on Sunday by scores of 5-4 and 4-0. The wins capped off the team's best week of the 2001 season, in which the Tigers captured a pair at Thomas More and split with Mt. St. Joseph.

    Wittenberg split a doubleheader with Ohio Athletic Conference contender Capital on March 28, winning the opener 3-2 before losing 13-5 in a second game that was stopped after five innings.

    The Wittenberg softball team got back to the diamond on Saturday after two weeks out of action following a 5-5 Spring Break trip to Ft. Myers, Fla. The Tigers opened the home portion of the 2001 schedule with a split against Heidelberg on Saturday.

    The Tigers had an interesting trip to Fort Myers, Fla. They posted two shutouts, while also being blanked twice, and Wittenberg scored in double figures twice, while allowing double digits in runs in two games.
