Wittenberg Splits Doubleheader Against Capital

Wittenberg split a doubleheader with Ohio Athletic Conference contender Capital on March 28, winning the opener 3-2 before losing 13-5 in a second game that was stopped after five innings.

Senior first baseman Carisa Clagg (Springfield, Ohio/Northwestern) had a double and two runs batted in for the Tigers in Game 1. Clagg is batting a team-best .429 and is tied for first on the team in RBI with seven.

Freshman pitcher Carmen Montgomery (South Charleston, Ohio/Southeastern) pitched a complete game to improve to 6-2 on the season. Montgomery has accumulated a 2.84 ERA in 11 games pitched, including eight starts.

Wittenberg's only highlight in the nightcap came from sophomore shortstop Stephanie Campbell (South Charleston, Ohio./Southeastern).

The Tigers face a busy week with a pair of makeup doubleheaders. Wittenberg travels to Thomas More for a twinbill that was originally scheduled for Sunday. Then Wittenberg hosts Mt. St. Joseph on Thursday in the make-up of a game originally scheduled for March 26.

The Tigers open defense of their 2000 NCAC championship Saturday at Allegheny.
