After Day One of NCAC Championships, Both Tiger Teams are Second
Greencastle, IN - Both Tiger teams headed to DePauw to compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and after one day of competition, both the men's and women's teams currently hold second-place spots. The men tallied 48.5 points through the end of Day 1 to trail first-place Wabash, which has compiled 74.5 points, and lead third-place Denison by 6.5 points. The Tiger women wrapped up Day 1 with 58.5 points, 30 points behind first-place DePauw and 29.5 points ahead of third-place Ohio Wesleyan.
Wittenberg's women started off by having three runners score team points in the 10,000-meter run. Maddi Clark (Mentor, OH / Mentor) took second in 37:31.73 for eight points, Megan Keys (Dublin, OH / Jerome) added three points in sixth place with a time of 38:47.63, and Emma Hawk (Marion, OH / River Valley) added another point in eighth with a time of 39:20.48. In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Mackenzie Kelley (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) gave the women another two points with her seventh place finish in 11:53.27. Next was pole vault, where Story Laing (Granville, OH / Granville) hit a mark of 3.2 meters for second place and eight points, while Lexie Greer (Venedocia, OH / Spencerville) reached 3.2 meters on her second attempt to tie for fourth and add 4.5 points.
Elsewhere on the day for the Tigers, Izzy Henderson (East Liberty, OH / Benjamin Logan) took the top spot in the long jump to collect 10 points after a leap of 5.66 meters. Lainee Valentine (Marion, OH / River Valley) added another two points in seventh place in the long jump with a mark of 4.99 meters. Ziciah Gibson (Cambridge, OH / Cambridge) finished eighth in the shot put at 10.38 meters to add one more point. Closing out the scoring for the women on Day 1 was Macy DeHart (Springfield, OH / Kenton Ridge), who gained another five points by taking fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 41.13 meters.
The Tiger men had a great start in the 10,000-meter run as well, as Conor Kolka (Dexter, MI / Dexter) contributed eight points by finishing second in 31:03.49. Lukas Rieben (Clayton, OH / Northmont) took third for another six points in 32:13.05, and Lucas Eisele (West Carrollton, OH / West Carrollton) was right behind in fourth with a time of 32:20.26 to add another five points. In the pole vault, Nicolas Farfoglia (Manchester, MD / Manchester Valley) vaulted 4.1 meters to tie for seventh to add another 1.5 points. Bryce Ray (Sun City, FL / Sumner) added 10 points for the team by finishing first in the long jump with a leap of 7.09 meters. Max Martindale (Mason, OH / Lakota West) finished third in the shot put with 15.1 meters to give the men another six points. Max Green (Centerville, OH / Centerville) led the Tigers in hammer throw with a fifth-place toss of 48.21 meters for four points, and Martindale added another two points by taking seventh at 45.52 meters.
Both Tiger teams are right back in action tomorrow at DePauw to wrap up the 2025 NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Coming into the event, Wittenberg's men were picked to finish first and the Tiger women were picked to finish second.
