Track and Field Men and Women Set Records in Successful Weekend

WESTERVILLE/GAMBIER, OH - The Wittenberg Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed in a couple of meets over Easter Weekend 2025, with record-breaking results on both days. On Friday, several Tigers competed at the Otterbein Twilight Meet, while the remainder of the team competed at the Duane Gomez Invitational hosted by Kenyon on Saturday. Athletes from both the men's and women's teams broke records at the meets, and the teams came away with outstanding performances as a whole. Notably, the women placed first at the Duane Gomez Invitational and the men placed second.

At Otterbein, the men's 4x100-meter relay team that consisted of Cameron Elliott (Springfield, OH / Springfield), Jack Kittle (Chagrin Falls, OH / Chagrin Falls), Neal Godfrey (Columbus, OH / St. Francis DeSales) and Elijah Simmons (Jacksonville, FL / Groveport) broke the school record, finishing with a time of 41.14 seconds. Kittle set another school record in the 200 meters, finishing in 21.10 seconds. For the women's team, Meghan Frazier (Alliance, OH / Alliance) set a new school record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.82 seconds at Otterbein. Another women's record was broken at Kenyon as Izzy Henderson (East Liberty, OH / Benjamin Logan) broke the school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.24.

At the Duane Gomez Invitational, the women placed first thanks to a multitude of top-three finishes. In the 100-meter dash, Zora Shakhan (Pickerington, OH / Pickerington Central) finished first in 12.54 and Morgan Hunter (Rockford, OH / Parkway) took third in 12.90. Next, they swept the top three spots in the 200 meters as Shakhan took first once again, while Tymeerah De'Armond (Springfield, OH / Springfield) finished second in 27.17 and taking third was Cayla Eaton (North Lewisburg, OH / Triad) in 27.54. Lexie Greer (Venedocia, OH / Spencerville) finished in third in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.19 and Abigail Danne (Johnstown, OH / Big Walnut) finished the 800 meters in 2:23.10, good for second place.

Eaton also took second place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.81, and, as mentioned earlier, Henderson's new school record in the 400-meter hurdles earned her second place. Reese Neumeyer (Whitehouse, OH / Anthony Wayne) placed third in the event with a time of 1:08.14. The team of Greer, Danne, Kyngston Collins (Dayton, OH / Belmont), and Bre Glover (Columbus, OH / Groveport Madisoon) placed first in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:08.12. The women also swept the high jump as Julissa Williams (Lorain, OH / Lorain) took first at 1.55 meters, which was the same height Henderson and Eaton acheived for second and third. Story Laing (Granville, OH / Granville) took third in the pole vault at 3.20 meters, and Jenna Delp (Canton, OH / GlenOak) and Brooke DeHart (Springfield, OH / Kenton Ridge) rounded out the top-three finishes as they took second and third in the long jump with 5.02 and 4.86 meters, respectively.

The men performed well at Kenyon as well to take home second place, behind only Denison. In the 200-meter dash, Dashawn Seye (Centerville, OH / Centerville) took third in a time of 23.10 seconds. Seye also ended up placing second in the 400 meters in 50.54. In the 800 meters, Mason Duncan (Cardington, OH / Highland) got third place with a time of 1:59.30. Conor Kolka (Dexter, MI / Dexter) once again placed well in the 5000 meters as he took second place with a time of 14:55.32. In the 110-meter hurdles, Mataio Robinson (Dayton, OH / Meadowdale) took first in 16.11, and he also took third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.05 as Owen Bier (Elyria, OH / Midview) took the top spot in 56.92. In the field events, Max Martindale (Mason, OH / Lakota West) won shot put at 14.35 meters and Parker Sothard (Springfield, OH / Springfield) took third with 13.13 meters. Troy Crosby (Clayton, OH / Northmont) had a discus throw of 45.14 meters, good for second place in the event. Closing out the events for the men was Max Green (Centerville, OH / Centerville) as he took home the win in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.13 meters.

Both team swill be back in action on April 26th as they participate in the Wilmington Invitational before NCAC Chamionships start in the beginning of May, on the 2nd and 3rd at Oberlin.
