Elliott, Ring named All-Academic in Men’s Track and Field by USTFCCCA

SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg junior Cameron Elliott (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) and sophomore Grayson Ring (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) were named 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Track and Field All-Academic Athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced on Monday.
To earn the award, student-athletes must meet both academic- and athletic-based criteria. Academically, they must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period. Athletically, they must have (1) finished the indoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS and/or have qualified for the indoor or outdoor NCAA Championships meets, or (2) competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS and/or participated in the relay at the indoor or outdoor NCAA Championships meets. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (one relay team per institution) is eligible.
Elliott, a psychology major, was a two-time North Coast Athletic Conference champion in 2023-24. He swept the conference titles in the indoor and outdoor 400 meters and added All-NCAC accolades as a member of the indoor and outdoor 4x400 relay teams. He also broke the school record in the outdoor 400 with a time of 47.88 seconds. He finished the year ranked 31st nationally in the indoor 400 meters and 35th in the outdoor 400.
Ring, a nursing major, swept the NCAC titles in the indoor and outdoor high jump in 2023-24 and added All-NCAC accolades as a member of the outdoor 4x400 and 4x100 relay teams. He finished the year tied for 27th nationally in the indoor high jump and tied for 44th in the outdoor high jump.
Under head coach Paris Hilliard, the Wittenberg men's track and field team won the NCAC Indoor Championships title and placed second in the conference and had one national qualifier during the outdoor season. The Tigers finished the year with a combined four All-Region accolades in the indoor and outdoor seasons along with conference titles in eight individual events. Hillard and his staff were named NCAC Men's Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year for the indoor season.
