Men's Outdoor Track and Field has successful weekend at Otterbein, Ohio State, Kenyon

SPRINGFIELD — The Wittenberg men's outdoor track and field team had a successful weekend competing at the Otterbein Twilight Meet on Friday and the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State and Duane Gomez Invitational at Kenyon on Saturday.

The Basics

  • Venues: Otterbein Twilight Meet - Memorial Stadium - Westerville, Ohio; Jesse Owens Classic - Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium - Columbus, Ohio; Duane Gomez Invitational - Wilder Track and McBride Field - Gambier, Ohio
  • Competing in four events, Wittenberg placed 15th of 19 teams at the Otterbein Twlight Meet with 18 points.
  • Student-athletes from all NCAA divisions competed at the Jesse Owens Classic.
  • Wittenberg placed second of seven teams at the Duane Gomez Invitational, scoring 134 points. Kenyon was first with 142 points, and Wooster was third with 116 points.

Wittenberg's Top Performers - Otterbein Twilight Meet

  • Sophomore Grayson Ring (Tipp City/Tippecanoe) finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.95 meters.
  • Senior JJ Weisenberger (Collins, Ohio/Western Reserve) placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.49 meters. Junior Bryce Ray (Sun City, Fla./Sumner) was eighth with a mark of 6.32 meters.
  • Freshman Caiden Allen (Ontario, Ohio/Plymouth) placed seventh in the 200 meters in 22.36 seconds.
  • Senior Matt Drovdlic (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley) was 25th in the 100 meters prelims with a time of 11.33 seconds.

Wittenberg's Top Performers - Jesse Owens Classic

  • Junior Cameron Elliott (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) finished 13th of 38 in the 400 in 49.49 seconds. Senior Zeke Bennett (Hilliard, Ohio/Bradley) was 28th in 50.84 seconds.
  • The team of Elliott, Bennett, Ring and senior Ian McCandlish (Lancaster, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) placed fifth behind two Division I and two Division teams in the 4x400 relay in 3:21.94.

Wittenberg's Top Performers - Duane Gomez Invitational

  • Junior Conor Kolka (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) won the 5,000 meters in 14:45.04.
  • Allen won the 100 meters in 11.03 seconds. Drovdlic was second in 11.21 seconds.
  • Freshman Owen Bier (Elyria, Ohio/Midview) won the 400-meter hurdles in 55.52 seconds.
  • Freshman Kane Cissell (LaGrange, Ky./Oldham County) was second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.10 meters and second in the triple jump with a mark of 13.15 meters.
  • Senior Matt Rogers (Leander, Texas/Rouse) was second in the 200 in 23.08 seconds and fifth in the 100 in 11.47 seconds.
  • Weisenberger finished second in the javelin with a mark of 46.64 meters.
  • Freshman Luke Amburgey (LaGrange, Ky./Oldham County) placed second in the discus with a mark of 23.52 meters.
  • The team of Rogers, freshmen Ethan Davis (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Houston) and Harry Sangha (Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) and senior Chance Keller (Newark, Ohio/Heath) finished second in the 4x400 relay in 3:36.25.
  • Senior Sam Callinan (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) was third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.95 meters and sixth in the discus with a mark of 21.34 meters.
  • Freshman Zeth Cowin (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) was fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.23 meters and eighth in the shot put with a mark of 12.02 meters.
  • Sophomore Gage Dyke (Frankfort, Ohio/Zane Trace) was fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.80 meters, and sophomore Jack Miller (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River) was fourth in the 5,000 in 15:53.17.
  • Freshman Nicolas Farfoglia (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) was fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.18 meters.
  • Freshman Jayden McKinster (Springfield, Ohio/Springfield) was sixth in the shot put with a mark of 13.77 meters, freshman Marc Galvis (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville) was seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.88 meters, sophomore Max Green (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) was seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.17 meters, and sophomore Ben Norton (Avon, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) was eighth in the 5,000 in 16:22.33.
