Tigers Take On Big Red Invitational

Granville, OH -- The Wittenberg Tiger's Track and Field teams got after it this past weekend in Granville, Ohio for the Big Red Invitational hosted by Denison University. This was the last regular season meet for the Tiger's before heading into the NCAC Conference Championships on May 5th-6th.

Starting with the men's side; senior Rodney Van Cleaf, earned a third-place finish in the discus throw with a throw of 38.35 meters. Jace Fette also earned himself a third-place spot in javelin, with a throw of 44.53 meters. In high jump, freshmen Justin Norris, finished first with a height of 1.91 meters. In long jump Jack Houck added a second-place finish with a jump of 6.71 meters. On the track the 4x100 meter relay team of Matthew Drovdlic, Jack Houck, Azad Robinson, and Matt Rogers ran to a first-place finish in a time of 42.74 seconds. Senior, Garrin Bachinski finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.85. He then came back in the 400-meter dash and claimed third with a time of 51.89 seconds. In the 100-meter dash sophomore Matthew Drovdlic finished second in 11.21 seconds. Deven Ramsey wrapped up the day adding his own second place finish in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:56.89. For the women Taylor Weiss finished third in the high jump with a height of 1.53 meters. The 4x100 meter relay team of Zora Shakham, Lindsey Magoteaux, Haleigh Wilson, Meghan Frazier ran 49.83 seconds for a first-place finish. Freshmen, Reese Neumeyer captured first place in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.33 seconds. Lindsey Magoteaux added her own first place title in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.88 seconds.

Moving into the NCAC Championship week hosted by Oberlin College. Both teams have gotten started with the NCAC Combined Championships also taking place over the weekend. Sam Callinan and Lainee Valentine both competed, and captured a seventh-place finish respectively. Both teams will be starting with 2 points from these athletes and are looking forward to a great week of competition. The men's team was ranked third in the pre-championship poll, while the women were ranked fifth.
