Tigers Travel To Emory Invitational

ATLANTA, GA - The Tiger's track and field team traveled to the Thrills in the Hills Invitational hosted by Emory University, this past weekend to take on some warmer weather, and bigger competition. The women were able to take elevnth place and scored 23 points, while the men finished seventh with 37 points. Competition was split into two days with senior Lauren Welker starting day 1 off by finishing in fifth place with a time of 4:50.09 in the Elite 1500 meter run. Sophomore Sydney Khosla finished fourth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 11:54.92. Wrapping up day 1 was the women's Elite 5,000 meter run, sophomore Corin Turkovich was able to bring home a  sixth place finish with a time of 18:33.78. On day 2 the Tiger's started right where they left off. The 4x800m relay team of Lauren Welker, Corin Turkovich, Sydney Khosla, and Megan Keys ran 10:07.08 to finish fourth. The 4x100m relay team captured an eighth place finish with a time of 51.10 seconds. The team was composed of freshmen Reese Neumeyer, Meghan Frazier, Kyngston Collins, and Lindsey Magoteaux. Ending the day in the 3,000 meter run senior Elizabeth Canright ran to a sixth place finish in 11:36.83.

On the men's side, two Tiger's were able to claim first place finishes. Freshmen Justin Norris claimed first in high jump with a jump of 1.95 meters. The second first place finish was from freshmen Conor Kolka in the Elite 5,000 meter run, where he ran a new school record of 14:57.87. Senior Ryan Zimmerman took fifth place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:53.40. On day 2 the men's 4x800 meter relay team of Conor Kolka, Evan Cordle, Ephram Evans, and Deven Ramsey secured fifth place in a time of 8:07.67. Right after the 4x100 meter relay team ran to a seventh place finish in a time of 43.85 seconds. The team included Matthew Drovdlic, Jack Houck, Rashon Edwards, Matt Rogers. In the 800 meter run junior Ian McCandlish finished in fifth place with a time of 1:58.40. In the 110 meter hurdles, freshmen Dustin Franks qualified for the finals and finished in eighth place in 16.39 seconds. Matthew Drovdlic also qualified for the finals in the 100 meter dash and finished seventh in 10.94 seconds.

The team is traveling to Berea College next week April 2nd.
