No. 7 Tigers Falls Against No. 21 Marietta

Marietta, Ohio – In a battle between two D3hoops.com Top 25 opponents, the No. 7 Wittenberg men's basketball team fell on the road 84-74 to the No. 21 Pioneers of Marietta College. The Tigers were powered by Connor Seipel, logging his fourth double-double of the season with 24 points and 13 rebounds. The Columbus native finished the night 10 of 16 from the floor, dishing out two assists and tallying one block. 

Game Breakdown

The Tigers opened the game on a 12-4 run, capping off their scoring spree with a 16-9 lead over the Pioneers. Wittenberg opened the game knocking down their first six shots from the field. Wittenberg would go on to extend their lead over Marietta 20-11, before the Pioneers came back to take the lead before the half 40-32. Wittenberg would battle back in the second half to shoot 41 percent from the field, scoring 42 second half points.

Who Stood Out

Rhashaad Ali-Shakir was the Tiger's second leading scorer, finishing 3 of 8 from the floor adding 6 of 8 from the free-throw line. Ali-Shakir finished with three rebounds and one steal. Jordan Pumroy and Jacob Bertemes each finished with 10 points. Bertemes would add on six rebounds six assists and two steals.
