Women Projected at Number Five In NCAC Pre-Championship Poll

Springfield, OH- As the Wittenberg Tiger Cross Country teams are winding down their regular season, all eyes are focused on the upcoming NCAC Conference meet. This year the meet is being held by our very own Tigers at the Clark County Fairgrounds October 30th at 11am and 12pm. In the NCAC pre-championship poll, the men were ranked in the top half of the NCAC institutions at number four while the women were ranked at number five. Both the men and women's teams have jumped in the ranking's since their last season in 2019. 

For the women sophomore Corin Turkovich, has led the Tigers throughout the season alongside freshmen Megan Keys. These two ladies have been fantastic on the course and are looking to keep the ball rolling. The top 5 finishes out with sophomore Sydney Khosla, and seniors, Elizabeth Canright and Lauren Welker coming fresh off their 5k at Wilmington. Other team members include Junior, Caroline Arndt, freshmen, Reese Hartsaugh, and senior, Emma Scritchfield, all who have had great seasons thus far. The team is currently ranked 5th heading into the conference meet and looking to improve that ranking come race day.

On the men's side, freshmen, Conor Kolka, has been leading the tigers throughout the season. Seniors, Cullen Sainey and Ryan Zimmerman, have been right behind Kolka this season and looking to push the front end of the race on Saturday. This front group of guys are looking to push the front end of the race keep leading the rest of the pack to a great conference run. To round out the top 5, senior Andrew Reese and, junior Evan Cordle, have been putting on a personal best season and they continue to get better each week. Freshmen, Ephram Evans, also has been putting on a great performance for the team and is really looking forward to continuing the post-season. The men's team is ranked 4th in the conference and looking to have a great race day.

Both teams are looking up heading into conference weekend. Coach Paris Hillard, Coach Brandon Litz and the rest of the staff are "really looking forward to the NCAC Championship this weekend. We are eager to show how much our team has improved since the last cross country championships in 2019. And being able to host the championship meet adds to that excitement."
