Kimmie Dyer

Springfield, Ohio — Wittenberg University volleyball standout Kimmie Dyer, class of 2012 from Copley, Ohio, has been recognized for the combination of her athletic and academic accomplishments with third-team Capital One College Division Academic All-America honors.

Dyer becomes the third Wittenberg volleyball player to earn national recognition through the prestigious program, following in the footsteps of Dawn Reinhardt '99, a third-team selection in 1998, and Emily Bell '08, a second-team honoree in 2007. Dyer was selected first-team Academic All-District 7 as a result of online voting conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A committee of CoSIDA members then selected the Academic All-America honorees.

Dyer, a business major, carries a 3.74 grade point average while participating in a wide variety of extracurricular activities at Wittenberg, including the University Honors Program, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Delta Gamma Sorority.

On the court, Dyer capped her collegiate career in the best way possible, earning NCAA Division III Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors after leading the Tigers to the 2011 national championship. The Tigers finished the season with records of 37-3 overall and a perfect 16-0 in the conference while winning their 17th NCAC regular season and tournament championships. Wittenberg appeared in its 16th straight NCAA Division III Tournament (17th overall) and brought home the elusive top prize with six victories over two weeks, culminating with a 3-0 sweep of Christopher Newport on Nov. 20.

Dyer earned first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honors in 2011 after topping the team in kills with 363 and ranking second in digs with 378. She also added 49 service aces to rank second on the team, and her .280 attack percentage was third-best on the team and ranked 10th in the conference. Dyer was credited with just 10 reception errors in 378 attempts during the 2011 season.

Dyer was a second-team All-NCAC honoree in 2010 and a first-team honoree in 2011, while she has no fewer than six all-tournament team awards to her credit in her career, including 2009 and 2010 NCAC All-Tournament team awards and culminating with regional and national NCAA Division III Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. Credited with more than 900 kills and more than 1,000 digs in her collegiate career, Dyer earned first-team All-Great Lakes Region and third-team All-America honors in 2011.
