MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Wittenberg Tigers continued their march through the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), passing the quarter-pole with a 3-0 win at Allegheny.
Wittenberg will try to make it 99 out of their last 100 Saturday at the scene of the lone "crime" of the last decade - as far as Tiger volleyball is concerned. Wittenberg travels to Hiram, which upset the Tigers in 2005, for a conference match at noon, followed by a match of national interest between Wittenberg and fifth-ranked Trinity (Texas).
Against Allegheny, which upset Hiram earlier this week, the Tigers spread the statistical wealth, as usual. The team leader in kills was senior right-side hitterJackie Williams (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat) with eight kills, followed by senior middle hitter Jessica Kimble (Dennison, Ohio/Claymont) and sophomore right-side hitter Amy Cox (Newark, Ohio/Catholic) with six kills each. Kimble added a team-high three blocks.
Also of note was the play of senior libero Laura Fender (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula)with 19 digs and junior setter Erin Slattery (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) with 25 assists.
